Public Protest Meeting Demanding Judicial Enquiry Over Killing of Madvi Hidma and Others

Press Release:

Call to join Public Protest Meeting demanding Judicial Enquiry over extra-judicial Killing
of Maoist Leaders & Workers including Madvi Hidma

Yesterday, November 18, 2025, Andhra Pradesh Police announced that 'Madavi Hidma', a member of the Central Committee of CPI (Maoist) and the head of PLGA, with his wife Rajakka were killed in an 'encounter' in the Maredumilli forests of Andhra Pradesh. But  Andhra Pradesh Civil  Liberty Committee  (APCLC) a well known civil rights organization in Andhra Pradesh, said in a public statement  that they were killed in fake encounters.  They said that a few days ago a man had identified Hidma & others  in  their shelter and they were picked up by the state force from the identified shelter in Andhra Pradesh and then brutally tortured and murdered in cold blood. It is also reported that several other Maoist leaders and activists have been arrested and kept in state custody without presenting them in  court . They are also at risk of being killed.

We are extremely sorry to say that  this is not new or not an isolated incident in today's India. For the last one year, in the name of 'Operation Kagar', the leadership of the Maoist party and the protesting tribal people are being killed continuously  in fake encounters.

As a part of Home Minister Amit Shah's threat to eliminate the Maoists by March 2026, state forces killed six people, including Hidma. It is really astonishing,  how the country's home minister could proudly announce such a deadline of killing and are really continuing  the killings . A few days ago, the general secretary of the Maoist party was also killed.  Para military forces have also murdered countless other maoist political activists and  protesting indigenous 'adibashi' people in the name of Operation Kagar.

We unequivocally condemn the state killings and demand a judicial inquiry into the cold-blooded  killings in the name of encounter of all Maoist leaders and activists, including Hidma. At the same time, we demand  stoping of  all political assassinations by the state. We demand immediate scraping of Operation Kagar.

We call upon all democratic and patriotic people to raise their voice demanding immediate production in court all Maoist leaders and activists  picked up  by state forces  and stringent punishment to all the state officials and forces involved in this fake encounter.

To give voice to these demands, a citizen protest meeting has been called in front of the College Street Coffee House, Kolkata from 3 pm on Thursday. All organisations and individuals are requested to attend the meeting positively.

Thank You,
Ranjit Sur,
General Secretary,
APDR.
